One easy way to make a room feel exotic is to add Moroccan plaster carving to the walls. When Foley & Cox shared their inspiration from Villa Oasis for a parlor room in the Kingston Design Showhouse, we knew this was the perfect home for our hand-carved decorative plaster panels, known as gebs in Moorish architecture. These decorative plaster panels are an elaborate version of Shaker chair rails which are used divide walls into harmonious proportions. Hand-carved gebs plaster is a staple item for Moroccan interior decoration. Foley & Cox created the Parlor Room in vibrant layers of color, texture, and pattern complimented by contemporary design elements. Marrakech Designs is thrilled to be a contributor to the Second Annual Kingston Showhouse.
This year’s showhouse brings together 17 interior designers with over 150 Hudson Valley artists, makers and businesses to design spaces in an 1800s house. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It also serves as an Airbnb at www.thewiltwyck.com.
